Edwin F. Gillette A100: One of the First Elected to the Order of the Unicorn
You may not recognize the name, Edwin Fraser Gillette, once a member of the Class of 1884, but the designs of some of the everyday visible insignia of Theta Xi are, at least in part, the result of his dedication to the Fraternity. Brother Gillette helped establish or revise the Theta Xi Coat-of-Arms, the Theta Xi Associate Member Shield and the Flag of Theta Xi.
He was also responsible for the written completion and revision of the Ritual. Earlier in life, he published the very first Theta Xi membership directory in May, 1892. For a lifetime of service to Theta Xi, Brother Gillette was among the inaugural class of those elected to the Order of the Unicorn on September 2, 1939, at the Diamond Jubilee Anniversary Convention held in Troy, NY.
